Cosmic gravitational waves in Maharashtra to be detected by LIGO
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis Has Announced That A Facility To Detect Cosmic Gravitational Waves Called Which Will Be Termed As The Laser Interferometer Gravitational Wave Observatory (LIGO) Will Come Up In Hingoli District Of Maharashtra.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has announced that a facility to detect cosmic gravitational waves called which will be termed as the Laser Interferometer Gravitational Wave Observatory (LIGO) will come up in Hingoli district of Maharashtra.
A collaboration between India and the US on detecting cosmic gravitational waves in the universe has initiated .
Fadnavis said, “Hingoli has been chosen for the LIGO-India observatory and laboratory, for which the state government will provide the land.” The LIGO project is also run with the collaboration of 90 universities and research institutions.
Almost 30 people are a part of the LIGO project. The project will also deploy cutting-edge technology for the Indian industry which will be engaged in building an 8 km long beam-tube at ultra-high vacuum on a leveled terrain.
