Darier's skin disease: First case reported in Uttar Pradesh
The Young Woman's Illness Was Diagnosed By The Pathology Department At The Lala Lajpat Rai Hospital In Kanpur.
In a first reported case from Uttar Pradesh, a 20-year-old woman patient at a Kanpur hospital has been diagnosed as suffering from non-contagious Darier's skin disease, officials said on Monday.
Darier's disease is an autosomal dominant disorder discovered by French dermatologist Ferdinand-Jean Darier. It is characterized by brownish crusty patches on the skin sometimes containing pus.
The young woman's illness was diagnosed by the Pathology Department at the Lala Lajpat Rai Hospital in Kanpur.
Doctors at the Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi Memorial Medical College in Kanpur confirmed the findings. A total of 30 cases of Darier's disease have been reported in India so far.

Pathology Department head Mahendra Singh said Darier's was a genetic skin disease showing up in men and women in the age group of 16-30.
