On August 28, 2017, Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, the former chief of Sirsa-based Dera Sacha Sauda was awarded 20 years of imprisonment for rape and sexual exploitation of two 'Sadhvis' (women followers) between 1999 to 2001. The CBI filed the charge sheet against the Dera head in Ambala court in July 2007. In the wake of his conviction by Jagdeep Singh, a special CBI judge, now the main question doing rounds is - who is heading the Dera empire worth billions in his absence?
