Allahabad High Court Takes Suo Motu Cognisance In Bijnor Shootout

The Allahabad High Court on Wednesday took suo motu cognisance of the violence in a courtroom in Bijnor. The court summoned the state’s principal secretary home and police chief to apprise it with a plan to strengthen security of court premises. On Tuesday afternoon, two youths barged into courtroom and sprayed bullets on Shahnawaz, an accused in the murder of a local BSP leader. While Shahnawaz died on the spot, two constables were left injured. Both Jabbar and the deceased had been brought to Bijnor court for hearing from Delhi jail. 18 police personnel have been suspended including chowki in-charge.
