BHU Events unfolded: Violence against women in India

After the Prime Minister’s office (PMO) intervention in the Banaras Hindu University’s crisis over rising eve-teasing incidents, the chief proctor of varsity resigned on Tuesday. Proctor ON Singh took moral responsibility for the violence. The students who was victim of sexual assault within the university’s campus had lodged complain with the proctor. The proctor has been accused of not taking the complaint seriously. Following the protests and lathicharge by police, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP chief Amit Shah had spoken to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath over the eve-teasing incident and the crisis at the varsity.
