Bill criminalising triple talaq tabled in Lok Sabha despite opposition from RJD, AIMIM

Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad on Thursday introduced the Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Bill in Parliament. The bill which criminalises the practice of instant divorce was tabled in Lok Sabha under which offenders will have to serve a punishment of three years. The bill was passed despite opposition from parties like RJD, AIMIM, BJD and All India Muslim League.
