Iraq’s most influential Shi’ite cleric Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani was on Tuesday issued a ‘Fatwa’ against constructing any temple or shrine in the Waqf properties. The decree came in wake of the Ayodhya land dispute. In the fatwa, the Iraq cleric said the Waqf property belonged to the Shi’ites as the Babri Masjid Mosque was built by the Shi’ite ruler.
