CBI War: Supreme Court agrees to hear fresh petition
News Nation Bureau 25 October 2018, 09:32 AM
The Supreme Court on Thursday said that it would look into the plea seeking an urgent hearing of the PIL for a court-monitored Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe in the allegations of corruption against various Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officials, including Special Director Rakesh Asthana, who was divested of his duties. A bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi considered the submission of lawyer Prashant Bhushan, appearing for NGO ‘Common Cause’ that there were wider issues of corruption affecting the investigating and the PIL needed to be heard urgently.
