Ground Report: 11 lakh people evacuated as cyclone Fani hits Puri

As Cyclone Fani, the most severe cyclonic storm over the east coast in nearly two decades made a landfall in Odisha’s Puri around 9:05 am on Friday, NDRF and other rescuers evacuated 11 lakh people and moved them to a safe location. Winds up to 180 kmph hit Odisha that may increase to 250 kmph. Apart from Odisha, the storm affected other states on the east coast – West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.
