Amid the heated debate, the controversial Triple Talaq bill was passed in Lok Sabha on Thursday. The bill will now face the tougher Rajya Sabha test where the ruling BJP, too eager to pass the bill criminalising instant divorce in Muslims, doesn't have the clear majority. However, several Muslim groups have opposed the bill saying they follow Sharia law and the issue of instant divorce is linked to their religion.
