J Jayalalithaa's journey from Mysore to Madras

Tamil Nadu has come to a standstill with the passing away of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, fondly called as Amma by many. Jayalalithaa took her last 74 days after she was admitted to Apollo Hospital in Chennai. Her real name was Komalavalli. She became Jayalalithaa after she joined the film industry, where she began her career as a child artist in 1961. As a child actress, she worked in English, Kannada and Hindi films. She made her debut with an English film titled The Epistle.
