Jammu and Kashmir: President Kovind gives nod to scrap Article 35A

The Article 35A of the Indian Constitution, which empowers Jammu and Kashmir state's legislature to define “permanent residents” of the state and provide special rights and privileges to those permanent residents, has been scrapped with immediate effect. President Ram Nath Kovind has given nod to the proposal by the Narendra Modi government.
