Justice Ranjan Gogoi on Wednesday took oath as the 46th Chief Justice of India (CJ. Justice Ranjan Gogoi was administered the oath by President Ram Nath Kovind at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi. Gogoi becomes the first CJI hailing from the Northeast state of Assam and will serve a tenure of 13 months, replacing former CJI Dipak Misra. After joining the bar in 1978, Gogoi mostly did his practice in the Guwahati High Court. On April 23, 2012, Gogoi became a judge of the Supreme Court of India
