Muzaffarpur shelter case: SC’s unique punishment to M Nageswara Rao

Notwithstanding former CBI interim director M Nageswara Rao explanation of the transfers of CBI officers who were investigating into Muzaffarpur home shelter case, Suprme Court awarded a unique and rare punishment to Rao. The Bench headed by Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi held Rao and Director of Prosecution guilty of Contempt of Court and told him to sit in the court for entire day. The top court also imposed Rs 1 lakh fine on Rao and Director of Prosecution. With folded hands, both Rao and Director of Prosecution sought apology from the Supreme Court.
