No country for girls: Kathua rape case sparks outrage in India

The rape and murder of an eight-year-old girl in Jammu & Kashmir's Kathua have sent shockwaves across the country. The victim was allegedly abducted, sedated and then gang-raped for days. The barbaric incident has sparked outrage nationwide outrage with people staging protests and expressing their anger on social media. Several Bollywood celebrities have started a campaign to demand justice for the victim. United Nations Chief Antonio Guterres has condemned the gang-rape and demanded that the perpetrators should be punished. The case once again brings the question- Are our girls and women really safe in the country?
