The first phase of Chhattisgarh Assembly elections ended on Monday with 70 per cent turnout in 18 constituencies amid tight security. Chief Minister Raman Singh is hoping to retain power for the fourth consecutive term against Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s niece Karuna Singh. Shukla, a former BJP leader, is the Congress party’s candidate against Singh.
