Shiv Sena Backs Introduction Of Citizenship Amendment Bill In LS

Congress ally Shiv Sena on Monday backed introduction of Citizenship (Amendment) 2019 Bill in the Lok Sabha. The House voted in favour of introduction of the Bill after Speaker Om Birla allowed division of votes over its tabling. Lawmakers voted in favour of introduction of the bill with 293 'Ayes' and 82 'Noes'. The bill is set to sail through smoothly in the Lok Sabha, as the BJP has 303 MPs in the 545-member House.
