Tight security in Jammu and Kashmir amid uncertainty on Article 35A

As the Supreme Court is likely to hear petitions challenging Article 35A validity this week and the government is reportedly mulling on revoking the article, separatist leaders in J&K are staging protests. State administration have made heavy deployment of security forces to check the law and order situation in the state after separatists called for a shutdown. Restrictions under Section 144 of the CrPC have been imposed in the Valley. Earlier, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) had ordered deployment of 100 companies of paramilitary forces in the Kashmir Valley on an urgent basis.
