Weavers of independent India's first flag want to leave their profession

As Rajasthan elections near, the villagers of Dausa have complained that very little has been done to promote their craft and keep them in the ancestral profession. Rajasthan Khadi Gramoyog Sansthan chairman and president of Kshetriya Khadi Gramodyog Samiti Sriram Dasi says, “Dausa has a long association with khadi.†The first tricolour flag that was hoisted in Delhi on August 15, 1947, was woven by the villagers of Rajasthan’s Dausa.
