Polls 2019: Violence in Bihar’s Hajipur, police resort to lathi-charge

The voting in Bihar’s Hajipur began on a violent note on Monday. Clashes broke out at outskirts of state capital Patna. Police personnel have to resort lathi-charge to control the situation. Meanwhile, voting for the fifth phase of the Lok Sabha Elections is underway. Over 9 crore voters are exercising their franchise in 51 constituencies spread over seven states across India. UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Congress president Rahul Gandhi, Union Minister Rajnath Singh, Smriti Irani, Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, actor-turned-politician and Samajwadi Party candidate Poonam Sinha are some of the key contestants who will fight during the fifth phase of Lok Sabha polls today.
