Gotabaya Rajapaksa All Set To Become Next Sri Lankan President

Sri Lanka People’s Front party presidential election candidate and former wartime defence secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa is all set to become president of the island nation after his main rival conceded defeat on Sunday. Rajapaksa won 52.25% of the votes in Saturday’s election, while his main rival Sajith Premadasa had 41.99 per cent. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was quick to congratulate Gotabaya, 70, who is seen as a nationalist.
