New Delhi :
Soon after Mumbai started its first women operated pink auto rickshaws, Gurgaon now boasts of its new fleet of bike taxis, called Bikxie Pink.
The two-wheeler taxi service was started on Jan. 21, goes by the name of Bikxie Pink. The move came ahead of the research conducted earlier that showed women were reluctant to use the service based on safety concerns and unease with with riding behind male drivers.
The umbrella company Bikxie currently employs 10 male and five women drivers within the IFFCO Chowk Metro Station.
Using an App, female customers can easily book a ride with one of the drivers. Bikxie is low-cost transportation for short distances in Gurgaon.
It has now become a stiff competition for other cab services like Ola, Uber which also offer commuters book rides without any hassles.
The operators have been trained well in using GPS and also been familiarised with the neighbouring routes. In addition to it, the female operators are also provided with pepper spray for their safety.
Bikxie rides are quite economical also, they charge INR 10 for the first two kilometres and INR 5 for every kilometre thereafter.
