New Delhi:

After creating a lot of buzz in English world, Priyanka Chopra is back in Bollywood with Prakash Jha's latest flick Jai Gangaajal: The End Game. Blame it on high expectations or Prakash Jha's dominant persona, Priyanka Chopra struggles hard to pull the trigger in this power drama.

Priyanka has put both her sweat and blood in garnishing the character of IPS officer Abha Mathur. Film starts off well as Priyanka sets the stage but sometimes your efforts are just not enough, especially when the competition is with the director himself. Prakash Jha secretly manages to snatch the fame with his flawless fearless act.

Jai Gangaajal: The End Game features IPS officer Abha Mathur (Priyanka Chopra) as the newly appointed first female SP of Bankipur district. While putting efforts in making the place a terror free land, she sets herself against the Local MLA of Bankipur (Manav Kaul) and henchmen of Lakhisarai district.

A lot has been offered on the lines of drama – Priyanka opposite local goons, her own staff, and her struggle to keep trust of people; also a kidnapping mystery with life on stake. While drama has been kept on full role a short take from the real life has also been stuffed in it. Be it farmers' suicide or lynching act of recent time offerings are too many but with a disclaimer of it being completely fictional.

The major problem seems to remain with the script which seems unnecessarily pushed at certain occasions; I would rather say the film ends at interval. Post interval it is just a drama that takes audiences to conclusion many had presumed while buying snacks during the break.

Since it is a sequel of 2003 crime drama Gangaajal, heavy dialogues were also on the expectation list. Again this part has been taken care off only in the first half; there are barely any strong words in the latter.

Priyanka Chopra is too flat on her character. In movies like this, there should be a style statement attached to the lead character. For instance, Ajay Devgn in the 2003 film had that special rugged look with a strong background score to give nightmares to the goons. But, in this one I find no special reason to keep Priyanka's characters alive in my mind. Instead, Prakash Jha takes the front seat with his blank looks.

Prakash Jha’s character comes out more powerful due to vibrancy hooked with it. First he is a corrupt official and then he is the man of duty, while transforming himself into a true cop he is also an emotional man on a quest to save two lives. His various shades make him a show stealer in Jai Gangaajal.

Other actors like Manav Kaul, Rahul Bhat and Queen Harish have also played a significant role in pushing the movie in an engaging manner.

Keeping boundaries of set limited to a village, a grand villa and police station; Cinematographer Sachin Krishn has done a remarkable job in assuring that each frame looks different even it has a repetition during the play.

Background score by Salim-Sulaiman is praiseworthy only if I am allowed to pick my favorite scenes from the movie. During fight sequences, the background score shoves more power but during the normal role, the audiences have already been treated with some great options.

Final Verdict: Priyanka Chopra is no Dabangg style cop but still she has a class to watch for. For Prakash Jha fans it’s a must watch.
