PV Sindhu loses in women’s badminton singles final, secures silver medal for India

Indian Shuttler PV Sindhu, ranked 10th in the world, scripted a new chapter in Indian Olympics history as she won a sliver medal for India in women’s singles badminton at Rio Games on Friday.

World No.1 and Spain's Carolina Marin defeated Sindhu in the final of the event in Rio on Friday.  

Sindhu, a two-time bronze medalist in world championships, went one better than her senior Saina Nehwal, bronze medal winner in 2012 London Olympics.

Sindhu had defeated Nozomi Okuhara, the current All England champion and world No.6, 21-19 21-10 in 49 minutes on Thursday.

Sindhu wins the first game in the final match, however Carolina makes a comeback and wins the second game. the third game will decide the winner.

Hyderabad girl PV Sindhu will take on two-time World Champion and top seed, left-handed Carolina Marin of Spain in the summit clash this evening. It will be tough fight as both players are in good form. Sindhu is confident as she has said earlier that she will go for gold. On the other, hand Carolina will be looking for her first gold medal at Rio Olympics.

Sindhu is a two-time bronze medalist in WorldChampionships. She will strive her very best to become the first-ever woman Olympic champion from India across all sporting disciplines in the final match.
