Samsung on Friday issued an official recall of its newest mobile Galaxy Note 7 after at least 35 cases of battery explosion were reported worldwide.
Issuing a statement of its website, the global tech giant said, “To date (as of September 1) there have been 35 cases that have been reported globally and we are currently conducting a thorough inspection with our suppliers to identify possible affected batteries in the market.”
Although there's currently no official word on the number of units that are affected by the problem, an annoynmous Samsung official was quoted in media reports saying that the figure stands at less than 0.1% of the entire volume sold.

"The problem can be simply resolved by changing the battery, but we'll come up with convincing measures for our consumers," they said.
The official statement confirmed that for customer’s safety Samsung has ‘stopped sales of the Galaxy Note7’.
“For customers who already have Galaxy Note7 devices, we will voluntarily replace their current device with a new one over the coming weeks,” the statement said.
According to a Reuters report, the delay in Galaxy Note7's shipments due to the battery fiasco has "knocked $7 billion off" Samsung's market value. Not to mention the worst possible timing of the problem for the company, given that the new iPhones are coming next week.
