New Delhi:

The AIADMK workers held special prayers for the good health of Tamil Nadu CM J Jayalalithaa  on Thursday and distributed food to the poor at Anand Sai Temple. CM J Jayalalithaa was admitted to a private hospital in Chennai after suffering from fever and dehydration.

The 68-year-old AIADMK chief was taken to Apollo Hospitals in Chennai, where her condition is stated to be stable. Several AIADMK supporters also offered prayers outside the Apollo Hospital.

The Madras High Court on Thursday dismissed a PIL seeking a detailed report from the government on the health of Tamil Nadu (TN) Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa.

Tamil Nadu CM is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Chennai since September 22. Apollo Hospitals said she was cured of fever and needed to be in the hospital for observation.

"The same line of treatment is being continued. The Chief Minister is under close observation by doctors," said a brief statement from the Apollo Hospitals on Tuesday. Jayalalithaa has been advised further stay in the hospital, it said. (ANI)

The supporters of Jayalalithaa have been gathering outside Apollo Hospital for the last 13 days.

Temples and mosques have been crowded with people, praying for their favourite leader. Public pujas have been held since day one for the ailing CM.

Supporters have took to self immolation as a measure to pray for TN CM. Former police constable and AIADMK supporter in Salem also attempted to set himself on alight.

Hundreds of workers assembled with pails of milk, while one even hung from a crane by means of hooks pierced into his back — an act usually done in devotion to Lord Murugan.

People from all age groups have been active in offering prayers for the betterment of ailing leader. Multiple images of young girls and boys with their cheeks pierced with arrows.
