New Delhi:

Pakistani troops continued the ceasefire violations on Friday with firing and mortar shelling on Indian posts and civilian areas along the LoC and the international border in Jammu, Kathua and Rajouri districts, leaving a minor girl injured.

BSF and Army have responded "appropriately and befittingly" a defence spokesperson said.

"There was unprovoked ceasefire violation by Pakistan Army in Sunderbani, Pallanwala and Nowshera sectors of Rajouri and Jammu districts today," the spokesperson said.

The shelling along the LoC and the international border might also be a tactic used by Pakistan to infiltrate terrorists before snowfall.

The Pakistani troops continued heavy shelling since Thursday when sectors including Arnia, RS Pura, Akhnoor, Tangdhar and Poonch were targetted. Indian forces too retaliated strongly and some Pak posts and villages received heavy damages.

Nearly 40 ceasefire violations have taken place from the Pakistani end since Indian army carried out surgical strikes inside Pakistan occupied Kashmir targeting terrorists.

On October 21, BSF killed seven Pak rangers and a terrorist opposite to Hiranagar sector along In in Kathua, in which one BSF jawan was injured. On October 25, at least 2-3 Pakistani armymen are believed to have been killed in retaliatory firing by Indian troops in the Noushera sector of Rajouri district.
