New Delhi:

Long queues outside ATMs and banks was once again a common sight across India on Tuesday as banks reopened after one day's holiday on account of Gurupurab.

The people in several states lined up outside banks from midnight hoping to exchange the old defunct currency notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 with new and/or valid currency.

Although, the heavy rush is expected to thin out starting from Tuesdy as ATMs are expected to start dispensing Rs 2000 currency notes as RBI has started the work of recalibrating the ATMs for new denomination on war footing.
