Patna-Indore Express Kanpur Tragedy: Death toll rises to staggering 100, over 200 injured

At least 100 people were dead after 14 coaches of Patna-Indore express derailed near Kanpur Rural at around 3:00 am on Sunday. Rescue operations are going on and many people are still trapped inside.

Over 200 people are reportedly injured.

The accident took place near Pukharayan (Kanpur) at 3:00 am. Reason of derailment is still unknown.

District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police were at the spot and taking stock of the situation.

Railway has re-routed or cancelled several trains. Injured have been rushed to near by hospital. 

Northern railway has also issued helpline number for the kin of Patna-Indore train passengers.
