New Delhi:

Railway resumed train services on the Kanpur-Jhansi route late on Monday, a day after rail traffic on the route was affected due to the fatal Indore-Patna Express crash that killed more than 140 passengers.

At 11.30pm, the first train passed through the Pukhraya station, railway ministry said on its Twitter handle.

Amit Mishra, deputy general manager, North Central Railway (NCR) and Amit Malviya, NCR PRO had informed that the rescue work was completed early on Monday following which the bogies lying on the track as well as the wreckage were removed. A team of railway engineers and technicians were working to repair the track.

Also, the electrical engineering team was pushed into service to fixing the overhead electricity wires. 

Four trains were cancelled and 14 diverted after 14 coaches of the Indore-Patna Express derailed in the wee hours on Sunday due to suspected rail fracture, disrupting traffic on the route.
