Hitting back at the Chidambaram's comment that demonetisation is the biggest scam of the year, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said that UPA ran the most corrupt government.
Rebutting at the Congress, Jaitley says, 'no steps against corruption or black money were taken by UPA regime. Corruption scams peaked in Congress period''.
He further retaliated saying that because of the scandalous record, Congress is uncomfortable with anti-corruption steps. He further said that to make the demonetisation scheme more effective, the government is now rapidly completing the scheme and it significant amounts of cash will be injected in next 3 weeks.
He also laid emphasis on digital transactions as it will widen the tax ambit and check blackmoney. Talking on the blockage of the house, he said that government is ready to debate on demonetisation in Parliament. 'Please rise above slogans and join this campaign. There are obvious advantages of this,not withstanding some transient problems people have to face,' Jaitley added.
Jaitley held a press conference in New Delhi to answer former finance Minister P Chidambaram's claim that demonetisation is the biggest scam of the year that needs to be investigated.
