New Delhi:

India won the fifth Test against England at Chennai by an innings and 75 runs,thereby wrapping up the series 4-0.

The Indian win can be largely attributed to a solid batting performance by Karnataka state mates KL Rahul and Karun Nair who notched up their double and triple tons to put the hosts in a commanding position on Day 4 after the visitors had posted a whooping 447 in their first innings.

A magical spell of spin bowling by Ravindra Jadeja in the England's second innings left the English batsman in tatters and the visitors folded for to hand the host a memorable victory.

Earlier in the match, England registered an imposing 447 runs on board courtesy  a scintillating century from their allrounder Moeen Ali.Ali was given good support by J Bairstow and Joe Root up the order who notched up impressive half centuries. Meanwhile Liam Dawson and Adil Rashid also contributed with valuable half centuries down the order. 

The Chennai Test saw many a records being rewritten courtesy some splendid batting by Karun Nair and KL Rahul. While KL Rahul missed his maiden double ton by just a run, his state mate Nair showcased all the technique and temperament to amass a triple ton in just his third Test.

Nair became only the second Indian batsman to score a triple century after Virender Sehwag, who has two triple tons to his name. Nair also notched up the Test highest score by an Indian batting at number 5. Rahul and Nair's batting exploits helped India to register their highest ever Test score of 759.
