It seems like Sahu stepped into the shoes of the party’s state working president and tribal leader Ramdayal Uike, who last month resigned and was inducted into the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
However, it is not clear yet whether Sahu is joining hands with the BJP or not. In 2008 Assembly elections, Sahu contested from the Gunardehi constituency of the Naxal-affected state and was reportedly unhappy at not being fielded in the current Assembly polls in Chhattisgarh.
Polling to the remaining 72 constituencies, in the second and final phase, will be held on November 20, 2018. Counting of votes will be taken up on December 11, 2018. The polls are significant as Chief Minister Raman Singh aims a fourth straight term in the state with the Congress seeking to oust the Saffron Party after 15 long years.
