Chhattisgarh Elections: Congress releases first list candidates for phase one

The Congress released its first list of 12 candidates for the first phase of assembly elections in Chhattisgarh on November 12 repeating seven out of eight of its sitting legislators. Eight Maoist insurgency-affected districts - Bastar, Bijapur, Dantewada, Sukma, Kondagaon, Kanker, Narayanpur and Rajnandgaon will be covered in the first phase of polling.

The Central Election Committee of the party announced the names of 12 candidates in Delhi, Chhattisgarh Congress's communication wing head Shailesh Nitin Trivedi said.

Elections to the 90-member Assembly will be held in two phases: November 12 and November 20. The Congress is out of power in the state for 15 years.

  2. Antagarh ST: Anoop Nag
  3. Dantewada ST Devati Karma
  4. Bhanupratappur ST Manoj Singh Mandavi
  5. Kanker ST: Shishu Pal Sori
  6. Keshkal ST Santram Netam
  7. Bijapur ST Vikram Shah Mandavi
  8. Jagdalpur Rekhchand Jain
  9. Konta ST Kawasi Lakhma
  10. Kondagaon ST Mohan Lal Markam
  11. Narayanpur ST Chandan Kashyap
  12. Chitrakot ST Deepak Kumar Baij

The Congress is yet to declare candidates for the six seats in Rajnandgaon district. Party's candidates for 72 seats in the second phase will be announced later.
