After traditional ally Akali Dal announced not to contest the Delhi Assembly Elections over the controversial Citizenship Amendment Act or CAA, the BJP has decided to join hands with Nitish Kumar's JD-U and Ram Vilas Paswan's LJP for the February 8 polls in the national capital. The BJP has allotted two seats to Bihar CM Nitish Kumar's party while Paswan's party will get one seat.
Confirming the development, Delhi BJP president Manoj Tiwari said that the party leadership has taken a decision to give three seats to JD-U and LJP. JD-U spokesperson and senior leader KC Tyagi welcomed the BJP's decision and said that it reminded him of the "old NDA" of Atal Bihari Vajpayee and LK Advani when the BJP and its allies fought elections together.
However, LJP leader Kali Pandey, who is his party's in-charge for the 70-member Delhi assembly polls, said he was unaware of any such development. The Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) led by Chirag Paswan had also released its first list of 15 candidates for the February 8 Delhi Assembly Elections.

According to the sources in the BJP, while Nitish Kumar's party will contest from Sangam Vihar and Burari constituency, Paswan's party will contest from Seemapuri.
The development came on a day the BJP's traditional ally Akali Dal announced that it will not contest the Delhi polls and demanded that Muslim refugees too should be made a beneficiary of the amended citizenship act. The BJP has so far announced its candidates for 57 seats.
