Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) supporters on Monday performed ‘havan’ in Varanasi as the counting of votes was underway for the Himachal assembly polls.
The counting of votes began at 8 AM on Monday for high-stake Gujarat Assembly elections, considered a prestige battle for Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his home state Gujarat and a litmus test for new Congress President Rahul Gandhi.
Earlier, Congress supporters performed ‘havan’ outside Rahul’s residence in Delhi, shortly before the counting of votes began.
Early trends on Monday showed BJP ahead of Congress in both Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat.
