News Nation exit poll on Thursday predicted that the BJP is headed for a clear win in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's home state Gujarat as well as in Himachal Pradesh.
News Nation presents the trends and predictions on the basis of the exit poll it conducted in the two states ahead of the assembly poll results to be declared on December 18.
Almost all the exit polls conducted by media houses on Thursday predicted more than 100 seats for the BJP in Gujarat where the party has been in power for over two decades now.
In Himachal Pradesh, where the electorate has chosen the Congress and BJP alternately in Assembly elections, the exit polls projected a clear majority for the saffron party, dethroning the Congress.
The voting for the second and last phase of the Assembly polls in Gujarat ended on Thursday. Around 67 per cent voter turn out was recorded for the remaining 89 seats under phase 1 of the Gujarat elections.
Himachal Pradesh concluded voting on November 9 and had recorded its highest turnout at 74 per cent.
A total of 851 candidates are in the fray for 93 seats spread across 14 districts in north and central Gujarat, in the final phase of the polls, where 2.22 crore people are eligible to exercise their franchise.
