Jannayak Janata Party Chief Dushyant Chautala's father Ajay Chautala was released from Tihar Jail on Sunday on 14-day furlough. Ajay Chautala is serving 10-year sentence in a case related to illegal recruitment of teachers in Haryana. Chautala is expected to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Manohar Lal Khatter as Haryana CM where Dushyant will take oath as deputy chief minister. The oath-taking ceremony will take place at 2.15 pm on Sunday.
After getting out of Tihar, Ajay Chautala praised his son saying "Dushyant has established the organisation in just 11 months."
The JJP, which has won 10 seats in the 90-member Assembly, has reached a deal with the BJP to form the government in the state wherein the Chief Minister will be from the BJP, while the post of Deputy Chief Minister will go to JJP.
On Saturday, when questioned over his father's furlough, Dushyant Chautala said, "Doesn’t my father have the right to celebrate Diwali with his family?"
In June 2008, Chautala and 53 others were charged in connection with the appointment of 3,206 junior basic teachers in the state of Haryana during 1999 and 2000. In January 2013, a New Delhi court sentenced Chautala and his father Om Prakash Chautala to ten years' imprisonment under various provisions of the IPC and the Prevention of Corruption Act. Chautala was found guilty of illegally recruiting over 3,000 teachers.
