After days of high-voltage political drama in Karnataka, the Congress-JDS alliance on Tuesday finalised the division of power in the state.
Karnataka chief minister designate HD Kumaraswamy, who discussed the future of Congress-JDS combine with Rahul Gandhi on Saturday, said that Congress Leader G Parameshwara on Wednesday will take oath as the deputy chief minister of Karnataka.
They have also decided on Congress's KR Ramesh Kumar as the Speaker of the Karnataka assembly.
"Out of 34 ministries, 22 ministries will go with Congress Party and 12 ministries, including CM will be with be with JD-S. Portfolio allocation to be decided after floor test," Kumaraswamy said.
Congress chief Rahul Gandhi and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi have also been invited for the swearing-in ceremony on Wednesday. After the meeting with Kumaraswamy, the Congress president on Monday tweeted his acceptance of the invitation and said "I will be attending his swearing-in as CM of Karnataka, on Wednesday, in Bengaluru."
