Kumaraswamy to meet Rahul Gandhi in Delhi tomorrow, cabinet discussion on agenda

HD Kumaraswamy, who was chosen as the chief minister face by the Congress-JD-S coalition, will visit Delhi on Monday to meet Sonia and Rahul Gandhi to discuss cabinet expansion.

“Tomorrow I will be going to Delhi, where I will meet Sonia ji and Rahul ji. We will decide about cabinet expansion. I will discuss everything with them on how to give a stable government for the next 5 years,” Kumaraswamy said.

On Saturday, Kumaraswamy staked claim to form government in the state after BS Yeddyurappa’s resignation as CM just before the floor test.

Yeddyurappa, who took oath as Karnataka CM on Thursday after Governor Vajubhai Vala invited him to form the government even as his party BJP lacked numbers, was asked to prove majority by the Supreme Court.

Yeddyurappa could not arrange numbers and chose to resign as the chief minister rather facing trust vote on the floor of the House.

His decision to quit paved the way for the Congress-JD-S coalition to form the government in the southern state.

According to the sources, the Congress, which gave up chief minister’s post to keep BJP out of the power, was likely to have more ministers in Karnataka’s new cabinet.

Kumaraswamy was going to Delhi to personally invite UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Congress president Rahul Gandhi for his swearing-in ceremony on Wednesday.

Apart from Congress bigwigs, Opposition leaders, including West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, Telanaga CM Chandrashekhar Rao and Andhra CM N Chandra Babu Naidu would also attend the oath-taking ceremony.
