New Delhi:

On the penultimate day of election campaigning in Karnataka, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday rebuked Congress president Rahul Gandhi for his “ready to be PM in 2019” remark.

While addressing an election rally in Karnataka’s Bangarapet, Modi said that “Naamdar” Rahul’s self-declaration of becoming a PM in 2019 despite the fact that were more senior leaders in Congress than him, showed nothing but his arrogance.

“Yesterday someone made an important declaration- he said, "I am going to be PM!" He came like those bullies, barging his way ahead when there are others who have many years of experience. How can someone just declare himself as the PM? This is simply nothing but arrogance,” Modi said.

Early on Tuesday, Rahul had said that he was ready to become the Prime Minister of India if his party won the majority in 2019 Lok Sabha Elections.

During his rally, Modi launched a scathing attack on Congress and accused the grand old party of communalism, crime and corruption.

“There are the six evils that the Congress has brought on the nation - Congress culture, Communalism, Casteism, Crime, Corruption, Contractor system,” he said.

The prime minister said that Karnataka election was not limited to victory or defeat and will decide the future of the southern state.

He asked people of the state to say “goodbye” to the Congress and bring BJP for the overall development of the state.

Modi took a jibe at former prime minister Manmohan Singh and said that his government was being controlled by a “remote”.

“During the UPA government, there was one Prime Minister and one remote control. In the NDA Government, our remote control and the high command are the 125 crore people of India,” the PM added.
