Congress is set to announce its first list of candidates contesting in the upcoming Madhya Pradesh Assembly Election 2018 on Thursday followed by the second list on Friday, which is slated to be held in a single phase on November 28, 2019, State Party Chief Kamal Nath said on Wednesday.

The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and Samajwadi Party (SP) had earlier announced their candidates for the Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections. SP had announced its six candidates in Balaghat, Panna, Budhni, Paraswada and Sidhi, while the BSP had announced 22 candidates by stating it will contest for all 230 seats.
The Congress and the BJP will face-off in Madhya Pradesh for the 230 Vidhan Sabha seats. The BJP in Madhya Pradesh is in power for three consecutive terms.
On October 6, the election commission (EC) had announced dates for the Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana and Mizoram Assembly elections 2018 and stated that the counting of votes will take place on December 11.
The BJP is the ruling party in Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh.
