BJP to hire magicians for campaigning in Madhya Pradesh Assembly polls

Facing stiff challenge from rejuvenated Congress and its president Rahul Gandhi in bastion Madhya Pradesh, the Bharatiya Janata Party is planning to hire magicians in a bid to woo voters for the upcoming Assembly elections in the state.

After 15 years of rule, the BJP-led by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is facing anti-incumbency and farmers anger in Madhya Pradesh. The party would now rope in magicians to cast a “magic spell” on voters in the rural and semi-urban areas.

"We have plans to hire magicians for campaigning and publicity," MP BJP spokesman Rajnish Agarwal was quoted by the PTI as saying.

Agarwal said that through the magic shows the party intends to highlight the work done by the Shivraj Singh government in its 15 years of rule.

"With this art, we are going to tell people about what the BJP government has done for people, especially the weaker sections of society in Madhya Pradesh in the last 15 years," the spokesman said.

The magic shows, Agarwal added, will also highlight the “poor condition” of roads, electricity supply and basic amenities during the 10 years of the Congress government between 1993 and 2003. Madhya Pradesh will go to polls on November 28 and the results will be declared on December 11.
