Buoyed by the stellar performance in Maharashtra Assembly Elections, Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray on Thursday said that it’s time to implement a 50-50 formula for the chief ministerial post discussed during the Lok Sabha Elections 2019. “BJP-Shiv Sena will form a coalition government in Maharashtra. During the Lok Sabha elections, we had agreed on a 50-50 formula. It is time that we implement it now,” Thackeray said while addressing media person after election victory.

Thackeray thanked voters for giving BJP-Shiv Sena alliance a clear mandate in Maharashtra. “I thank all the people of Maharashtra, it is a clear mandate. I want to ask people of Maharashtra to keep blessing us. Our aim to give the people a good and accountable government,” he said.

However, he made it clear that Sena is not in hurry to grab power. “Who will be the CM? It’s a good question….will we will sit together and discuss that… I want to take my party forward,” he added.

When asked to comment on Aditya Thackeray's victory, he said 'I am proud of him.'

"Being his father, I am proud of him (Aditya Thackeray). I am happy that the people gave him so much love," Shiv Sena chief said.

Making his political debut, Shiv Sena leader Aaditya Thackeray on Thursday won from the Worli Assembly constituency in Mumbai, an election official said.

The 29-year-old Yuva Sena chief, who is the first member from Thackeray family to contest an election, defeated his NCP rival Suresh Mane by a margin of over 70,000 votes.

In the run-up to the polls, Aaditya Thackeray held several roadshows, foot marches and raised issues like cutting of trees in Aarey Colony and Mumbai's nightlife.

The young Sena leader, during his campaigns, said he wants to make his constituency a "model of development". He had also reached out to non-Marathi voters in the constituency.
