Sanjay Raut, the senior Shiv Sena leader and executive editor of its mouthpiece ‘Saamana’, turned 58 on Friday. The leader got a special birthday gift in form of unique ‘Saamana’ cake, which was ordered by Shiv Sena worker Mahesh Gor. The cake, which was in form of the pages of ‘Saamana’ also had a fountain pen made of red coloured fondant. Asked for his birthday wish, Raut said that he wants Maharashtra to have Shiv Sena Chief Minister for next 25 years.

Maharashtra's next government will be led by the Shiv Sena and the common minimum programme (CMP) being worked out along with the Congress and the NCP ahead of its formation will be in the "state's interest", party spokesman Sanjay Raut said on Friday. The Uddhav Thackeray-led saffron party will lead the government in Maharashtra for the next "25 years" and not just five years, claimed Raut.

Regarding alliance with the Congress, the Sena's political rival till recently, Raut said leaders of the country's oldest party have contributed to freedom struggle as well as development of Maharashtra. Asked whether the Sena will share the CM's post on a rotational basis in the next dispensation, Raut said, "We want to have the chief minister's post for the next 25 years. The Shiv Sena will provide leadership to the state no matter who tries best to stop it."

Earlier, the Shiv Sena termed the imposition of President's rule in Maharashtra as an "scripted act".  Taking a shot at the governor, an editorial in party mouthpiece 'Saamana' said, "It looked like some invisible power was controlling this game and decisions were taken accordingly." It also said that former CM Devendra Fadnavis is shedding "crocodile tears" over the imposition of President's rule even as BJP indirectly have the power.

Raut’s penchant for Bollywood and everything filmy is well-known. He is often quotes movie dialogues or couplets by famous poets, which have a subtle or straight message. During the ongoing Maharashtra turmoil, Raut made quite a statement by tweeting famous lines. From Wasim Barelvi to Atal Bihari Vajpayee to Dushyant Kumar, Raut has been tweeting famous poets and authors to comment on the crisis in the state. Latest in the series of these poetic tweets was Raut quoting Harivansh Rai Bachchan’s legendary ‘Agneepath’.

In a single tweet – Agneepath, Agneepath, Agneepath- Raut pointed to tough road ahead for his party. The word is title of Harivansh Rai Bachchan’s iconic poem. It is also a title of the cult Bollywood classic in 1990s. Incidentally, the movie starred Harivansh Rai Bachchan’s son Amitabh – the bedrock of Hindi film industry.
