Udayanraje Bhosale, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) MP from Satara, is expected to join Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) on Saturday. Udayanraje Bhosale is likely to join the party in presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. According to reports, Udayanraje may resign as MP on Friday evening. He most likely to seek re-election. He has won the Satara Lok Sabha seat in 2009, 2014 and 2019 elections.
It will be a return to BJP for Udayanraje. During his stinct in BJP, he was a member of the Maharashtra Assembly and also the Minister for Revenue of Maharashtra in the Bharatiya Janata Party government from 1998 to 1999.
Shivendrasinh Bhosale, Udayanraje’s cousin and NCP's Satara MLA, has also joined the BJP recently.
Udayanraje is the 13th descendant of Shivaji Maharaj and current holder of the title of Chhatrapati.
Former state minister and NCP's Navi Mumbai strongman Ganesh Naik joined the BJP on Wednesday. A flock of 60 NCP corporators from Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation also shifted to BJP with Ganesh Naik.
