Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Amit Shah on Wednesday launched the party’s election campaign for the Mizoram state assembly polls which is slated to be held on November 28.
“I am in Mizoram today, the great land of the Mizos,” Shah tweeted upon his arrival in the poll-bound state.
I am in Mizoram today, the great land of the Mizos.
It is a matter of joy and pride for every karyakarta to have the new BJP state office inaugurated in the state capital today afternoon. I will also be addressing booth karyakarta sammelan in Aizawl. pic.twitter.com/eRQiStYwkS— Amit Shah (@AmitShah) October 17, 2018
Shah would address BJP’s state-wide booth level workers meet at R Dengthuama Indoor Stadium in Aizawl where he would kick off the party campaign for the upcoming election to the 40-member Mizoram legislative assembly, Mizoram BJP unit president Prof John V Hluna told reporters on Tuesday.
According to official report, the wind of change was visibly seen at the BJP’s booth level members conference as scores of party workers from across the state gathered and attended the meet, which symbolises hope of delivering Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s good governance in the northeastern state.
“It’s a Tsunami of BJP Karyakartas and supporters in Mizoram today. Wind of change everywhere,” BJP Dima Hasao District tweeted.

During his visit, Shah also inducted Buddha Dhan Chakma, a ruling Congress former minister who resigned from the state assembly on Tuesday. Moreover, the BJP office was also inaugurated by the national party chief, in the presence of BJP election in charge of Mizoram Himanta Biswas (Finance Minister of Assam), Nagaland deputy chief minister Y. Patton and other leaders.
At present, Mizoram is the only state in the Northeast region where Congress is in power. After the recent historic wins in Assam and Manipur elections, leaders of the BJP have been asserting that they would make all efforts to remove it from the power from the state to paint the whole North-Eastern states with the saffron colour.
Mizoram will go polls along with the northern state of Madhya Pradesh on November 28.
