Reacting to BJP's impressive show in the North East Assembly elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday thanked people of Tripura, Meghalaya and Nagaland for supporting NDA agenda of “good governance.”
“People of Meghalaya, Nagaland and Tripura have spoken! I thank the people of these states for supporting the good governance agenda and ‘Act East Policy’ of @BJP4India & our valued allies,” Prime Minister Modi tweeted.
The BJP is set to win big in the North East with the saffron party surging ahead of the Manik Sarkar-led Left Front in Tripura and crosses majority mark with its ally NDPP in Nagaland.
The BJP was leading on 39 seats in Tripura, while the Left front which was ruling the state for the last 25 years was ahead in 19 seats. In Nagaland, the BJP and its ally NDPP were leading in 33 seats, while the ruling Naga People’s Front (NPF) was a distant second and leading in 22 seats.
"The victory of BJP in Tripura is not an ordinary electoral victory. This journey from ‘Shunya’ to ‘Shikhar’ has been made possible due to a solid development agenda and the strength of our organisation," the Prime Minister said.
The victory of @BJP4Tripura is not an ordinary electoral victory. This journey from ‘Shunya’ to ‘Shikhar’ has been made possible due to a solid development agenda and the strength of our organisation. I bow to every BJP Karyakarta for working assiduously on the ground for years.
