The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) announced candidates for by-elections to four assembly seats in Punjab on Wednesday. The president of AAP state unit Bhagwant Mann made the announcement.
Mahindar Singh Kachura will contest from Jalalabad, the constituency earlier represented by Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal. Amandeep Singh Mohi will has been fielded from Dakha seat, which got vacant after former Aam Aadmi Party legislator and noted Supreme Court lawyer HS Phoolka's resignation was accepted by the assembly speaker last month.
AAP fielded Gurdhayan Singh Multani from Mukerian. The seat fell vacant after the death of her husband and sitting MLA Rajnish Babbi last month.
Santosh Kumar Gogi has been named as party candidate from Phagwara reserve seat. Phagwara and Jalalabad seats had fallen vacant after sitting MLAs Som Parkash and Sukhbir Singh Badal were elected to the Lok Sabha from Hoshiarpur and Ferozepur parliamentary seats in the 2019 general elections.
