Nearly three weeks before Rajasthan Assembly Elections 2018, the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) on Monday announced its third list of 61 candidates, taking the total number of declared candidates to 78. On November 9, BSP president Sitaram Meghwal released its second list of six candidates. The first list of 11 candidates was announced in the first week of November on directions of BSP chief Mayawati.
"Bahujan Samaj Party releases the third list of 61 candidates for Rajasthan Elections 2018," the news agency ANI reported.
The process for filing nomination papers for the Rajasthan assembly polls kick-started Monday. Nomination papers will be filed from 11 am to 3 pm. The last date of filing nomination is November 19. Scrutiny will take place on November 20 and nominations can be withdrawn by November 22.
Going by the poll predictions, Rajasthan Assembly Elections 2018 is considered to be a straight fight between the ruling BJP and the Congress with the Rahul Gandhi-led party winning a number of by-polls in the last couple of years.
A number of opinion polls gave an edge to the Congress. However, the BJP has insisted that it will be able to repulse the opposition's challenge.
In 2013 Assembly Elections, the Saffron Party under the leadership of Vasundhara Raje won a whopping 163 of the 200 assembly seats, giving the Congress its worst ever drubbing at its hands.
Polling for 200 assembly segments in Rajasthan will take place on December 7 while the counting of votes will be taken up on December 11, 2018.
